Getting Around Campus

Arriving

The airport is located within the city, and is about a 15 minute bus ride from campus/ downtown. Taxis are also available. As well as taxi services, the ridesharing service TappCar operates in Winnipeg.

Campus is widely accessible by public transportation/buses, and these all have the ability to lower ramps. In rush hour, buses can get quite full and be standing room only.

The weather in Winnipeg is beautiful throughout the summer but we admit it can be unpredictable in late May. Please check the forecast prior to travel and plan accordingly.

Conference Venues

The main doors to enter Centennial Hall are in the centre of the campus layout. There is a ramp, and electrically assisted doors. Many of the other entrances have stairs with no ramps – we suggest using either the main entrance or Ellice Ave entrances. The entrance across from the bus loop on Balmoral is NOT accessible. If you are getting dropped off or need accessible parking, there are a limited number of accessible parking spaces on Spence Street, which also has an accessible entrance. Please see the campus Accessibility Map for more details.

Escalators are the most visible way of accessing the second floor where the majority of the conference will be held, but there are elevators which will be signed and indicated on maps.

Washrooms are available within close proximity of all of the event spaces. Wheelchair accessible washrooms, however, are only available on the first floor, or in an adjacent building on the second floor. There are gender neutral washrooms on both the first and second floors. We are working to identify an appropriate space for pumping which is private, and includes an electrical plug and sink.

Refreshment and reception areas during the conference will be one floor down, accessible by elevator or escalator, and clearly signed. The tables and chairs are movable, and we will ensure clear pathways. The food set up will be buffet, which we realize may be difficult for some people to navigate, and conference volunteers will be available to assist.

Reception Venue

The Winnipeg Art Gallery is located a block away from the University of Winnipeg, and across the street from the Holiday Inn. The gallery has an accessible entrance and elevator access.
